{"id":3552,"date":"2022-03-05T19:11:45","date_gmt":"2022-03-05T19:11:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/smart.onlinesarafi.com\/index.php\/2022\/03\/05\/modum-whitepaper\/"},"modified":"2022-03-05T19:11:45","modified_gmt":"2022-03-05T19:11:45","slug":"modum-whitepaper","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/smart.onlinesarafi.com\/index.php\/2022\/03\/05\/modum-whitepaper\/","title":{"rendered":"Modum Whitepaper"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"91.930610626487\">\n<p>Abstract<\/p>\n<p>Blockchain for supply chains\u201d has become a prominent, and very promising<br \/>application scenario for blockchains, enabling transparency between<br \/>untrusted partners and traceability throughout production processes.<br \/>The advantage of using blockchain technology in the supply chain is that it<br \/>provides an open, immutable, global, online ledger for transactions, which<br \/>includes a verification mechanism.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, various start-ups (Chronicled, Everledger, Skuchain, Blockverify,<br \/>ubirch, Provenance etc.) and large corporate players (IBM, Microsoft,<br \/>Walmart, Maersk, BHP Billiton, etc.) have begun to run proof-of-concept<br \/>studies, committing significant R&#038;D resources to building new platforms<br \/>and fostering international collaborations.<\/p>\n<p>In mid 2016, when modum.io began operations, only a few working blockchain<br \/>infrastructures were available. modum.io opted to use blockchains<br \/>with proven industry applications. This decision allows the modum team<br \/>to focus on the development of the business case and to be able to stay<br \/>relatively neutral or \u201cagnostic\u201d with respect to the growing portfolio of<br \/>blockchain solutions.<\/p>\n<p>modum.io chose the pharma industry as its first business case because<br \/>this sector requires highly automated and cost-effective logistics solutions,<br \/>which guarantee data integrity. As the pharma industry has one<br \/>of the highest standards for product safety, security, and stability, it is<br \/>the ideal candidate to act as a \u201cblockchain-enabler\u201d; having successfully<br \/>proven a viable blockchain solution with the highest requirements, scaling<br \/>into other verticals is feasible.<\/p>\n<p>The general maturity of the Ethereum network and development stage<br \/>of Solidity validated modum.io\u2019s choice to use Ethereum for its pilots or<br \/>proof-of-concepts. While Ethereum remains one of the most cutting-edge<br \/>blockchains with great developer and commercial interest, modum.io<br \/>will stay open to other options for blockchain use in this rapidly changing<br \/>market.<\/p>\n<p>In particular, requirements from our clients for permissioned blockchains<br \/>or systems with low or no transaction fees call for substantial flexibility<br \/>and resources from modum.io in order to truly become and remain<br \/>blockchain agnostic.
